In this series, we explore Ephesians 4 and its profound implications for us as Jesus followers. Together we find that Jesus has designed his church with great intentionality. It is to be a community where each person has a unique and irreplaceable role to play in God's ongoing work in our midst. To this end, Jesus has given five specific gifts to his church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers. When each does its part, we are built up, strengthened, protected, unified, grown into Christlikeness together, and more fully experience and express the presence and character of God to the world. When we only elevate a couple of the gifts above the others, we all miss out.
